SCCA Track Day December 5th Chuckwalla Valley Raceway

An email blast went out earlier this week, and I want to make sure people realize that there will be a Track Day component of the next SCCA event at Chuckwalla!

This is an opportunity for drivers not otherwise licensed for competition events to get some seat time on the track.

    From the email:
    Wait...what? Track Day?

If you took advantage of the Track Night in America program over the summer, you get the idea behind what we're calling Track Day at CVR - Low pressure, low stress, LOTS of FUN, the easiest way to get yourself on track! Sign up early, as there will be a limited number of slots available to take advantage of the four 20-minute on track sessions (not including a lead and follow session for anyone new to the track). Email Chris @ az944racer@gmail.com is you have any questions.
Here is the link to register for the event, which includes the option for the Track Day entry on Saturday:

I recently participated in a PCA DE/TT event and had a blast! Here's a video of my fastest lap to give you an idea of what its all about - but at the SCCA Track Day we'll be running in the opposite/counter-clockwise direction.

I have had a few people as me questions offline and I've gotten some answers from the event organizer that make sense to share here.

Are there additional resources to point people to for details about what to expect from an SCCA Track Day?
Since we're running this event much like a Track Night in America event - use this as a good guide:
    http://www.tracknightinamerica.com/pages/what-to-expect

    With these modifications:
1 - we're only going to have one run group - but 4 sessions versus the night program's 3 sessions.
2 - there won'tt be the paced/parade laps option in the middle of the event like a night Event.
    3 - since this is a full club racing weekend - there isn't a Run/Work option.

We'll be using the same tech sheet:
    http://cdn.growassets.net/user_files...pdf?1440706544

We'll use the same basic rule and regulations / what to bring
    http://www.tracknightinamerica.com/p...nd-regulations
    http://www.tracknightinamerica.com/pages/what-to-bring

    What previous experience is required?
    None

    Are instructors available (or mandatory)?
This is a structured track day versus a driver school/education event, so we'll be debriefing drivers after the sessions, but there won't be instructors in your cars.

Will participants have transponders for timing?
No timing is allowed on these events.

What do we need to do to prep their cars?
Here's a good guide for car prep:

There has also been some clarification on the price, it is $150 for the Track Day registration. That is for 4 sessions on Saturday, December 5th.

Here is the link to the Arizona Region Website page for the event with even more info:

Just to update, the registration ends tomorrow 12/2!

There are currently 5 participants registered for the Track Day and I have confirmed with the organizer that they will not cancel. The event will run with however many people are signed up. So currently, its looking like it will be a nearly private track during the PDX sessions!

But if you have been thinking about it, DO IT! Sign up now, get a hotel and come on out.

We had an amazing time out at Chuckwalla this weekend! The PDX was a really small group and it was like having the track all to yourself. Seriously a lot of fun!

    Here was my best lap:
