As long as it has the Snell M2000 or newer rating I believe it will fine.

So yes, a M2000 is currently acceptable, but probably not for long (someone out there can probably predict fairly accurately how long).
If you have a M2000 you are set for now, but I wouldn't recommend paying much for one as it won't be OK for long.

In October the new SNELL 2015 should be released, upon which M2000s would be illegal.

Will there be (Snell 2015) helmets FOR SALE, or is this the date SNELL publishes it's new standard?

From what I heard, no, but it could happen.

To Hank's point, the pattern has been the SCCA publishes a temporary amendment to extend the outgoing cert until the end of the year. i.e., it's likely the 2000's will get a pass until 2016.

    used helmets

I checked with the BMW club and their req's for autocross helmets are the same.

There are a ton of slightly used helmets on ebay and Craig's list. Looks like alot of people buy all the gear b4 they know if they like a sport. When looking for the rating sticker, it is UNDER the padding inside the helmet.
