Glen Helen X-mas Special, Dec 22-23

So you thought the RallyX season was over... Well, guess again!

Due to the demand for more events, we're boosting up the schedule. 2013 will see more weekends, and we're tacking on the "Christmas Special" to the 2012 season.

The Christmas Special is a standalone weekend, i.e. has no effect on either the 2012 or 2013 series results. The essence of this event will be a two day (three session) practice with an under lying competition. Driver's can chose to compete over the three days by entering as a 'Christmas Special Competitor', or simply buy ala carte practice runs for any of the sessions.

So here's how it works. There will be three 'sessions'; Saturday mid-day, Saturday NIGHT, and Sunday morning. During each session we'll start with competition runs (4) for those entered in the Christmas Special. Once complete we'll open the course for general practice runs until demand dies or time runs out.

Final classes will be determined by the entries. Register for your 'normal' class, but they will be combined as necessary to get meaningful competition.

We will have trophies and medals for class winners.

    Pre-Registration for the weekend:

Don't forget to follow details on the CalClubRallyX twitter feed: http://twitter.com/calclubrallyx

I don't expect the same high numbers we get throughout the proper season, none the less there is a 60 driver limit on this event. Please register early so we know what we're handling.

Pre-reg for the practice and get two free runs. 'X-mas Special' competitors get 4 competition runs/session + 6 free practice tickets (18 in total).

Pre-Reg by Wed before Event (PrePay not needed for discount)

    Entry Fees:
    X-mas Special Entry Pre-Reg SCCA Members $80
    X-mas Special Entry Pre-Reg Non-Members $90
    X-mas Special Entry Reg Day-Of $110
Ala Carte Practice Runs $10/lap, $40/5 (+two free runs for pre-reg)

    Preliminary Schedule
    Saturday:
Tech and Reg open at 9am
    Walking 9am-10:30 and between sessions
    First session 11:00am - 4pm
    Second session 5:30pm - 10:30pm
    Sunday
Tech and Reg open at 8am
    Walking 8am-9am and between sessions
    Third session 9am - 2pm

An auto is at less of a disadvantage in the dirt than on the pavement. Especially if you can hard select a gear. Less ability to get the power down anyways.

Slow progress on the entries. This night event is probably a one time thing, make sure to participate if you can. Get those pre-registrations in so we can plan for the crowd.

Even though this is a much reduced expence event, current entry numbers are putting us in the red. So get out that whip and encourage your neighbors!

Henry Winkler made way more $$ after that than before ;-).

Last day to pre-reg. Remember its a significant discount on the competition event, or a couple free runs on the practice.

Ends at midnight, but reg site is still 'iffy', so don't wait until the last minute!

RallyX course is up, looks like weather is going to hold off until we're opening presents.

In case anyone wanted to stop by we'll be doing a late start tomorrow, scheduled for 9am registration and 11am first car off.

After several hours we'll take a long break to tweak the course and get the lighting out. At 5:30pm we'll start the night runs then go until everyone falls asleep.

Early start on Sunday, 9am first car off.

Got a big 2013 season announcement going out tomorrow morning too.

Results are up for the X-mas special.

Navigate to the results page within.

Over all things went very well. We had a nice surge of walk up entrants that kept us out of the red. Night runs seemed to work out about as best as could be hoped for. And we even got to call it an early day on Sunday.

Thanks for all the participated. If interested, Mar 16-17 Porterfield RallyX at Glen Helen (season opener) registration is open for the Saturday practice and Sunday championship. Links can be found on the event's web page.
