just to say thank you for the racing on july 15 scnax thingy

hello everyone.
it was good talking with ya and meeting new people, the main reason for me to continue to come back to try again.
i was classified a novice/newb. and a group called csp. driving the 2001 audi tt. i want to try it again and have some questions cause i want to be in the right place and not hurt anybody feelings if i lose to them. i heard on the loud speaker my car was a twin turbo..... it is actually a single turbo that doubles as a whistle. anyways my car looks like it is modified but it is mostly for attention to promote my company. the audi tt is called that way in honor of the isle of man racing. or tt could be from it having tiny turbo either way it works. so the question is next time i go out and race i wonder were i would fit in.
my car is....
1. running street tires.
2. has a cold air intake system.
3. has had the ecu re-programmed/flashed.
4. the springs have been upgraded, the shocks are stock.
5. increased the size of the intercooler.
6. the rear wing is for aesthetics. i dont think any effect happens before 80 mph.
thats it as far as modifications go.
so now you know what the tt stands for and maybe you can place me in a class. my other question is i was given th enumber 1024. will that be my number next time or random lottery each time unless i sign up for it. thanks for reading and again thanks for the fun.

The wing puts you in SSM if your car is a two seater.

The TT actually stands for Tourist Trophy. And it's not just the Isle of Man. The Tourist Trophies were a prestigious series of races throughout the British Isles. Many people think the Isle of Man TT stands for Time Trial, which is untrue. And you are correct, the Audi TT only features a single Turbo, and not all even have that.

Increasing the size of the intercooler is SSM.

You were given a four digit number because you purchased a weekend pass and not a permanent number (what we call a Solo Card). That temp four digit cost you 5.00, but it's good for a credit when you buy your permanent number, which will be three digit. We have a book with available numbers. Once you have your permanent number, it's ten dollars to renew it at the end of each year, as long as you do so between Oct 1 and Dec 31. Forget to renew, you pay full price (25) after Jan 1.

was not sure exactly what the tt stood for just new it was associated with the isles. the car is a 2 seater but has tiny back seats, so maybe a 2 + 2 would they call it?
ok so probably SSM is the class i will be in the future. i forgot to mention the engine size is a 1.8L it is the baby of the 2 versions, one is 180hp the other 225hp i think. just to make sure, wing plus intercooler = SSM class. also i want to ask if you have to belong to one group or another. i dont want hurt to people feelings or create a feud or something. does a group bid on a new member?

dont get me wrong i love the number . together they add up to lucky 7. 1+0+2+4=7, i was just wondering if i should save the tape for the next race.

yikes it is more and more complicated. i do have 4 seats with belts. it is a quattro, all wheel drive. i am out for fun, the class is just something i personally want to be able to gauge myself. i do appreciate all the input. i downloaded the class book but it is somewhat out of my vocabulary.

If you want to have fun then skip all that classing bs and put an x with your numbers. With an x you can take passengers too.

As mentioned, you could run the local X or time only classes. Autocross is heavily weighted towards driver skill so if you come out enough times, you'll have an idea who you're competitive with. You'd be surprised how long two old or new drivers in vastly different cars can compete against one another. We're potentially talking years. If you want to look at it car-wise, I think your car with some mods removed can be classed in STC which means you would have had to run 63-64's to be competitive with those fast Civics on Sunday. Yeah...

Not complicated at all. In fact, you just hit the jackpot! Like Walter said, four seat belts means SM, and that is WAY better than SSM. Locally SM is weak, leaning to the EXTREMELY weak side, and close to SO FREAKIN' WEAK GRANMA ON A SCOOTER could win there.

You should absolutely run SM, get some instruction, and kick the poo out of the slowpoke that has been there so long he has put down roots.

There is no paperwork to join, but you do have to lend your car to all the members. Prima nocta and all that.

Meanwhile, hitting cones, while it won't win you any races, is usually not a bad sign per se. Some of the fastest guys out there have a pretty high percentage rate of "dirty" runs. Usually around 30+%. Not that that numbers means anything, but it makes sense when you think about it. When you're pushing to get as close as possible to apex cones or driving at 10/10ths, things can get messy!
