    Points

    OK, I know this has probably been gone over tons of times.

    After the first event this year, I think I have an idea how the index works and how the Factor is figured in.

    I am still confused on how the points work, Do you get point for each run or just your overal finish for the day? Do DNF count against you or not?

    Where do I look this info up?

    Thanks,
    Dave

    The points are based on the class you ran and how close you were to the top with your fastest run. Here is an example of the formula: Say your fastest run was 50 seconds and the winner of the class ran 45 seconds. Your points would be 100x45/50=90 points. It doesn't matter what position you placed. All that matters is how far back you finished from first in your class.

    BTW, you have to be a member of a club to accumulate points.

    Go here;
    http://www.sdr-scca.com/solo2/

    and look for the button right under the list of names and in our sup rules you will find a section on points.

    That will take you here;
    http://www.sdr-scca.com/solo2/docs/2011_Supp_Reg.pdf

    Page 13 explains the points system.

    Bottom line;

    First in class gets 100 points

    Their time is divided by the other times and multiplied by 100 and you get your points. For example

    1) 66.765 = 100 because it's first place
    2) 67.325 = 66.765 / 67.325 = .9999168 X 100 = 99.991 points

    so in this case 1st gets 100 points, 2nd gets 99.991 points.

    But be aware; in order to qualify for a year end trophy you MUST be
    1) in one of the local host groups (the idea is only those that help host events deserve a year end trophy)
    2) you must run in 2/3 rds of Champs, rounded up. This is a high standard. If we have 14 champs, you MUST run in the same class in 10 of them.
    3) your year end points are based on your best 2/3rds of events. If you come to all 14, you get 4 drops. If you only come to 10 (assuming 14 champs) all 10 will count. Your missed events are your drops.

    Of course sometimes we only have 12 champs.

    'Go slow to go fast' they say'. Heh. Trust me...... when it comes down to the fast ones? They go fast to go fast.

    Question points

    OK, I think I understand and yes I am a member of SCAT I joined last month.
    I run in Prepared 1, so would that be the difference between my fastest and the first place fastest run. (OR) the difference beween the factored total time fastest of mine and the total time fastest of his after it has been factored (last column). Since CP, BP,FP,& XP all run together or am I only given points against other XP cars (only two of us) now.

    Don't listen to Warren when it comes to math type stuff, he must use one of dem new maths.

    And to answer your questions:
    1) would that be the difference between my fastest and the first place fastest run. (OR) the difference beween the factored total time fastest of mine and the total time fastest of his after it has been factored (last column)
    > you use the pax factored "Total T." (last column) values for combo type classes like P1, Sk, etc.
    2) Since CP, BP,FP,& XP all run together or am I only given points against other XP cars (only two of us) now?
    > The points are "against" all the people in your class - not just the XP's

    sorry for the formatting, not easy to do in this setting. So it looks like you got 81.292 points.

    I'm pretty sure Bill M won't be there next week

    (formatting might work better if you use the "Code" quotes).
